Dear ANSHK Family,

On behalf of the ANSHK executive board, I am pleased to welcome both new and returning scholars to the Association for the 2025/26 academic year. Choosing Hong Kong as the destination for your studies or research is an excellent decision, and I am confident you will have a rewarding experience. We look forward to supporting your academic journey and wish you continued success in your research and studies.

Beyond fostering academic excellence, ANSHK is committed to promoting a positive image of Nigeria. Our Association has grown into a vibrant community where members can connect, collaborate, and build lasting relationships. These connections span research, career development, and professional networking. We encourage members to work together across disciplines to advance their research and enhance the quality of their academic output.

Many of us share the experience of leaving our home country to pursue studies in Hong Kong. Some may choose to remain here after completing their programmes to work or settle. While we are here, let us strive to make Hong Kong our “home away from home.” Our unity and support for one another will help us overcome any challenges we may encounter during our time abroad.

As members of this community, it is important that we all contribute to the growth and development of ANSHK, uphold the Association’s reputation, and serve as exemplary ambassadors of Nigeria. Working together as a team, united by shared goals and values, we can introduce ANSHK to new scholars and strengthen our network.

While in Hong Kong, we should actively engage in positive initiatives that enhance our reputation and foster acceptance within the local community. It is important to challenge and dispel any negative stereotypes about Nigerians by participating in activities that build goodwill with residents and officials. Our efforts will not only benefit current members but also pave the way for future scholars and professionals. Through community service and responsible citizenship, we can establish a foundation of respect and mutual understanding.

To support your well-being, ANSHK organises a variety of social, recreational, and educational events throughout the year. Activities such as cycling, hiking, football matches, and barbecues provide opportunities to relax and connect outside of academic work. We encourage everyone to participate and make the most of these experiences.

Wishing you all the best in your studies and research. May we continue to thrive together.

Thank you.
